about

I created this album aiming for new jouhikko music.
Jouhikko is a traditional bowed lyre from Finland.

I'm a Japanese man and stayed in Finland in the summer of 2016.
The name of this album Ihala is derived from the small family community where I stayed and all songs are inspired by the days I spent there.
Some songs in this album are not based on the traditional Finnish way of jouhikko, but all the songs emphasize the unique sound of jouhikko and the sound of a forest.
Some songs are also inspired by the musicality of other living creatures such as birds and bugs.

Instruments: jouhikko, irish bouzouki, mandoloncello, guitar, 3-string guitar, mandolin, bell, frame drum, etc.
